• University Overview

The University of Sydney, Australia's first university, was established in 1850.Today, with a rich diversity of courses and a reputation for teaching and research excellence, the University attracts students and staff from around the world. • Undergraduate

Sydney offers a wide range of undergraduate degreesand puts students in touch with a world of possibilities through the university's international affiliations, industry and alumni mentoring programs and innovative partnerships. Students can choose to study either through the bachelor's or honours program. More than 500 scholarships intended for undergraduate students help them achieve their goals at Sydney.
The basic entry for undergraduate courses in Sydneyis assessed on the basis of a student's academic results. Examples of these requirements include the Australian tertiary admission rank (ATAR) or equivalent, tertiary or TAFE study or a foundation course. Having an ATAR is not the only way students can get accepted in Sydney, the university also offers other pathways.

• Postgraduate

A wide variety of postgraduate courses are on offer at Sydney. There are two main types of postgraduate courses at Sydney - research and coursework.
Coursework programs consist of units of study (subjects) rather than research work. They usually require attendance at lectures and tutorials. • International Students

The University of Sydney is home to a lot of overseas students. To help them during their stay in Australia, the university has prepared various support services. Pre-departure briefings consisting of information on applying for student visa, organizing finances, travel and health, accommodation (both temporary and permanent) and important documents to pack are discussed. Scholarships at the university may be given based on a combination of school examination results, including ATAR or equivalent, and other achievements that show qualities such as leadership, creativity, self-motivation and communication skills. Students are encouraged to look for funding from sources outside of Sydney. They may apply for scholarships from companies, governmental groups, religious missions and other universities.
