
University Overview
The University is situated only 15 minutes (9 miles) drive south of the centre of Perth, the capital city of Western Australia, and 10 minutes (5 miles) from the port city of Fremantle. Its campus, which is beautifully landscaped with Australian native trees and shrubs, is a hub of activity, life and fun and provides an ideal environment to meet other students from Australia and all over the world.
Undergraduate
Murdoch follows a unique undergraduate degree framework which is structured around four key elements - transition to university, research skills, breadth of knowledge, and depth of knowledge. Entry requirements are divided into two categories, pathway options for school leavers and pathway options for non-school leavers.
Postgraduate
An example of postgraduate programs on offer at Murdoch are in the education faculty which offers a range of education-related graduate programs. Postgraduate students may undertake Master of Teaching (Primary), Graduate Certificate in Early Childhood Education and Graduate Diploma in Education (Secondary).
Study Online
Many materials are available online and students undertaking external study can even download the lectures, allowing them the freedom to listen to lectures without ever stepping foot on campus. Students get all the help they need through Murdoch's LMS (Learning Management System) where they can gain access to study schedules, student forums, ask questions and talk to tutors, listen to or watch recordings of unit lectures using a tool called Lectopia and use the Murdoch Library's electronic database.
International Students
Murdoch acknowledges that arriving in a new city can be quite daunting for a new student. To assist students, the Murdoch International Student Support Team has created a short guide on the different transportation options available from the Perth International and Domestic Airport Terminals. Once students arrive, they'll take part in a week-long comprehensive university orientation that will prepare them for study and life at Murdoch University. More importantly, Murdoch offers financial aid and scholarships for international students.
